Monday, Jan 18: Google is undoubtedly ranked as the best workplace for employees. The company is known for highest pay package. Working for long hours is quite common at Google. Google’s HQ at Mountain View in California is always full of people. As it turns out, some of the employees never leave the Google campus and some of them have started living in the parking lot. Let’s find out why.

1. Rents are too high
One of the Google employees, Ben Discoe lived at Google campus for 13 months as the rent in South Bay area was too high. Ben already had a house payment and alimony to pay. He found living in parking lot is convenient. The security team did check up on him but, left him at it as he was just eccentric Googler.
2. To save money
23-year old Brandon Oxendine stayed at the Google campus for 4 months. He stuffed two mattresses in his station wagon and lived in it at parking lot. Brandon thinks 20s is the best time for him to save money and gain financial freedom. He plans to travel the world. He needs to get adjusted with the comfortable and unconventional living situations.
3. On a dare
Matthew J Weaver lived in Google parking lot for months. He thought it was an excellent choice for his career. Google does not have any policy about allowing employees to sleep in a campus. Weaver even hosted parties in his RV. He says, it was difficult for him to explain the situation to women he was dating.
4. Not able to find housing
This is a very common problem in California. It is difficult to find a suitable residence. One of the employees stayed at Google campus until he found permanent residence. Instead of staying in parking lot, he slept under the desk for a week.
5. Because it’s not too difficult
Living in Google parking lot is lot easier. Employees say that they could take a shower at gym and eat meals at the office. They can even get their laundry done at the campus. So living in parking lot is lot easier than it sounds.
