GORKHABAZAAR, May 30: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that his party was not longing for a government of national unity.

"We want national unity and not a government of national unity", he said at Arughat of Gorkha on Saturday. A national consensus government must not be formed just to appoint any individual as a minister or to expand the council of ministers.

Chairman Dahal however said that a government of national unity could be formed provided there is an agreement among the parties to promulgate a new constitution.

The former Prime Minister today lent a hand to help reconstruct a school where he was once a teacher. Mr Dahal was a teacher of Science and Agriculture at the Bhimodaya Higher Secondary School in Arughat some 31 years ago. He joined volunteers who helped reconstruct a temporary hut for the school to resume classes soon.

Chairman Dahal also inspected the house where he had resided during his stay in Arughat. The house was flattened in the April 25 Gorkha quake. RSS
