Speaking at a special program organized on the occasion by the Mahaparva Chhath Samaroha Samiti, the Vice President said the popularity of the Chhath, a provincial festival confined to the Tarai region of the country, was growing these days and it has become nation-wide. [break]
He stressed the need of developing this festival into a national festival without confining it to a certain caste or community.
President of the Chhath Festival Program Organizing Committee, Ram Chandra Saha said that the Chhath festival inspires people to work for human welfare. The Chhath festival program is being held at the historic Ranipokhari pond in the heart of the city since 2006.
