Verve Tablet PC hits shelves

KATHMANDU, June 24: CTV Mobile at Tamrakar complex has introduced Verve Tablet PC in the Nepali market. According to the company, the tablet is designed by the company itself as per the need of the Nepali market and manufactured in Hong Kong.



“After conducting various studies, we have introduced the tablet PC loaded with features that Nepali customers were looking for. As more Nepali youths are attracted toward tablets, we are hopeful that Verve will do will here,” Alive Glider, managing director of CTV Mobile said.[break]



The tablet features 7-inch TFT LCD screen of 800X600 pixels and uses Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 1.0GHz processor. Besides, it has other features like five point capacitive touch screen, built-in 3G, Wideband Code Division Multiple Access/ Evolution-Data Optimized (WCDMA/EVDO), Wi-Fi, video calling, 2 mega pixels rear camera and 0.3 mega pixels front camera for video calling and 3D digital sensor.







Using the gadget customers can make or receive call as well as send and receive SMS and MMS, according to the company.



The tablet, which uses Android 4.3 Icecream Sandwich operating system, supports external mouse and keyboard. It has 512 MB RAM, 8 GB internal memory and 8 GB external memory, which is expandable up to 32 GB.



CTV Mobile has priced the tablet at Rs 22,769. However, Glider said the company was providing special offers for students. “We are accepting booking from students at Rs 19,999 per unit. We will make the tablet available within a week,” he added.



Other customers, however, can get the tablet on demand.



The device has direction sensor feature that locates the place of the user. Quick Office and Adobe Reader come pre-installed in the tablet, making it easy for the users. Similarly, it supports video formats such as avi, mov, mp4, asf, wmv, wma, rm, rmvb, 3GP, m4a, mpg and flv, and audio formats such as: mid, wav, amr and mp3. The tablet has standby time of 48 hours and playtime of 6 hours.



Verve tablets come with one year warranty. Initially, it will be available only in black color. “We will introduce the tablet in white and red colors within a month,” said Glider.



According to Glider, the company plans to sell 500 to 1,000 units in a month as price of the tablet fits the budget of Nepali customers.
