KATHMANDU, July 3: Prime Minister and Chancellor of the universities Balendra Shah has appointed vice chancellors for seven universities, including Tribhuvan University.
The appointments were made from among the names recommended by the Universities Vice Chancellors Selection and Recommendation Committee.
Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa has been appointed vice chancellor of Tribhuvan University, while Kishan Datta Bhatta has been appointed to Far Western University (Sudurpashchim University) and Rajan Suwal to Mid-West University (Madhyapashchim University).

Similarly, Rhishi Ram Kattel has been appointed to the Agriculture and Forestry University, Shyam Narayan Labh to Rajarshi Janak University, Devendra Adhikari to Pokhara University, and Sujan Babu Marhattha to Purbanchal University.
Oath taken
Minister for Education and Sports and Pro-Chancellor of the universities, Sasmit Pokharel, handed over the appointment letters to the newly appointed vice chancellors. They took the oath of office and secrecy before the minister on Friday.
The appointments were made through an open competition.
This is the first time that vice chancellors of multiple universities have been appointed through an integrated process under the Integrated Procedure for the Selection and Recommendation of Vice Chancellors of Various Universities, 2026.
