The Airbus A330 aircraft of the Istanbul-based carrier landed at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) at 7:15 am with 280 passengers on board. It left for Istanbul at 8:45 am.
The airline will operate four flights a week -- on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays -- to Kathmandu. “Though we are currently operating four flights a week, we are working on to operate daily flights form the next month,” Sezgin Saglam, senior vice president -- marketing and sales of Turkish Airlines, said at a press meet in Kathmandu. Speaking on the occasion, Ratish Chandra Lal Suman, director general of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, said they we were pleased to welcome the 27th international airlines at TIA. “The regular flight service between Nepal and Turkey will not only encourage business but will also help extend bilateral trade relations and exchange culture and friendship between two countries,” he added. “At a time when our national carrier has not been able to connect Middle East and Europe with Nepal, Turkish Airlines has helped us a lot in establishing connection with these regions.”
In order to encourage more people to fly through Turkish Airlines, the Istanbul-based carrier has announced introductory round trip fares starting at Euro 406 (including taxes). It has announced special offer till February for its ´Miles&Smiles´ members, with 25 percent reduction in the miles needed to redeem either award tickets or upgrades.
Turkish Airlines flies to 238 cities around the world with a fleet of 232 aircraft.
