Passengers traveling abroad are being requested to fill in the details of their departure either on the back of their tickets or on the white departure card printed in English which is meant for foreigners only. [break]
President of Airlines Operator´s Committee Nepal (AOCN) Bharat Kumar Shrestha said Nepalis travelling abroad have been facing difficulty in filling the details of their departure. “The Department of Immigration (DOI) has provided white card printed in English. So we have been assisting Nepalis who do not understand English by filling up their departure cards,” said Shrestha.
According to the airlines officials it has been a month that the departure cards for Nepalis has not been supplied. Departure card for Nepalis are printed in Nepali language.
“I was asked to fill up the details of my departure on the back of my ticket. It´s very shameful that TIA does not have departure cards,” Til Chandra Bhattarai, president of Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry told Republica on Tuesday.
Samikshya Koirala, a passenger traveling to Srilanka on Wednesday evening was allowed to travel without filling any details. “I am surprised that there is no departure card at all,” said Koirala.
However, an official at the departure office claimed that it was only on Wednesday that the TIA ran out of departure cards. “Airline officials have been sought fresh supply of departure cards. We ran out of departure cards today [Wednesday],” said the official requesting anonymity. He, however, said that the details of the passengers have been properly maintained.
