Tamang to face Paneru in final

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Ratnajit Tamang of the hosts Armed Police Force (APF) has set up a title clash with Pashupati Paneru of Kailali in the men´s singles of the Seventh Nationwide Krishna Mohan Memorial Open Badminton Tournament.



Tamang upset defending champion Bikash Shrestha of Nepal Police Club in the semifinal played at the Armed Police Force (APF) headquarters at Halchowk, Kathmandu on Thursday. [break]



Though Tamang beat archrival Shrestha in two sets, he was made to work hard for the narrow 21-19, 23-19 victory in the first semifinal of the day.



In another semifinal, Paneru, the winner of the fourth edition, beat Indra Mahata of the hosts APF 21-19, 21-23 for a place in the final.



The women´s doubles final will be an all-APF affair after both the teams of APF emerged victorious in the semifinals played Thursday. The team of Puja Shrestha and Nangsaladevi Tamang of the hosts thumped Bina Tulachan and Samjhana Sharma´s pair of Banke 21-10, 21-22, while Samjhana Khaling and Sabina Panthi´s pair registered a hard-fought 21-23, 21-19, 23-21 win over the pair of Sujana Shrestha and Mina Rai, also of APF, to enter the fina
