Story writing contest organized for school children

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: With an aim to encourage creative writing, Nisarga Batika School and Nisarga Center for Education jointly organized an inter-school Nepali story writing competition in Kathmandu on January 31.



Twenty-seven children from nine schools in the valley took part in the contest. The participants, who were students of fourth, fifth and sixth grades, were given training on story writing prior to the competition.

Anugya Koirala of Sanskriti International School bagged the first prize while Yugeshwar Koirala of Kasthamandap School and Nawsywa Jyoti of Nepal Foundation bagged second and third prize, respectively. The competition was judged by writer of children's books Dhubra Ghimire.


Children holding the top three positions were awarded medals while the seven others received consolation prizes. The school principal Kamana Regmi handed over certificates to the winners and participants on the same day.


The organizers have promised to continue such programs in the coming days.
