KATHMANDU, June 20: Despite an interim order issued by the Supreme Court (SC) against the implementation of 16-point agreement between four major political parties—Nepali Congress, CPN UML, UCPN (Maoist) and Madhesi People's Rights Forum (Democratic), the parties have intensified the constitution drafting process as per the agreement.

A taskforce under the Constitution Draft Committee was busy preparing the draft on Saturday too. "We are busy to prepare an integrated constitution draft," said Aindra Sundar Nembang, a member of the taskforce. "We will be bound to follow directives from Constituent Assembly and its chairman to halt the constitution drafting process."The Supreme Court on Friday has issued an interim order on not to implement the 16-point political deal recently struck by major political forces with a view to settling key contentious issues in constitution making. However, the parties that signed the agreement have vowed to continue the task of statute drafting based on the deal reached among them despite the court's order.

"In connection with writing the new constitution, the Constituent Assembly is independent and efficient and it is self evident that the CA's decision is the final decision in constitution making," read the statement issued by the four-party meeting after the SC order on Friday.
