SPORTS BRIEFS: Twin wins for Krishna Thapa

KATHMANDU, Oct 18: Krishna Thapa achieved twin victories on Thursday in women´s singles during the Open Squash Tournament being held at Satdobato Squash Academy. Thapa defeated Sneha Bansal 11-2, 11-0, 11-3 and edged past Nilima Malla 11-4, 11-2, 11-2 during round robin league matches. With the wins Krishna achieved 12 points.



In other match, Shristi Maskey saw off Shikha Baheti 11-5, 11-4, 11-4. In other matches, Hira Bahadur Thapa and his son Amrit, Sudip Bahadur Singh and Prabin Bir Singh made it to the semifinal. Krishna is also the daughter of Hira Bahadur who overcame Prem Singh 11-2, 11-5, 11-7, Amrit defeated Ratna Kaji Shakya 11-7, 9-11, 11-6, 11-7, Sudip Singh defeated Suraj Shrestha 11-5, 11-5, 11-7. Similarly, Prabin Bir Singh defeated Binod Ratna Shakya 11-6, 11-5, 8-11, 11-13. Hira Bahadur will lock horn against Prabin and Amrit will vie with Sudip in the semifinal to be played on Friday.



Tamang wins Caddy Tournament



KATHMANDU
: Anil Tamang won the title of Annual Caddy Tournament of the Army Officers´ Golf Club on Thursday. Tamang scored 130 points after playing 27 holes in a day. Suresh Lama finished the tournament as runner-up with 132 points. Hareram Chalise remained in the third position with 134 points. Chalise also claimed the prize for the closest to the pin while Santosh Shrestha claimed the longest drive award. Biily Waiula received the prize for the most birdies in the tournament participated by 22 caddies of the club.
