Death toll in Ramechhap bus crash rises to 11, eight injured including driver

At least 11 people died and eight were injured after a Kathmandu-Okhaldhunga bus plunged into the Tamakoshi River near Manthali in Ramechhap.

KATHMANDU, Feb 10: The death toll from a bus accident near Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap, has reached 11, police said.



Eight people, including the driver, were injured in the crash, according to Police Inspector Rajan Timilsina of Ramechhap.

The Araniko Yatayat bus (Province 01–01–005 Kha 9975), en route from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga, plunged about 50 metres off the road into the Tamakoshi River at Masantar in Manthali Municipality-6.


Rescuers pulled passengers from the submerged vehicle and transported the injured to various hospitals for treatment. The identities of the deceased have yet to be confirmed.
