KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has agreed to provide financial assistance to the Nepal Cleft & Burn Center in Kirtipur for the purchase of medical equipment aimed at improving treatment services.
An agreement was signed under the metropolis’ annual programme in the presence of Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol, Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain and Education and Health Committee Coordinator Chinakaji Maharjan. Health Department Chief Deepak Kumar KC signed on behalf of KMC, while hospital chair Dr Bharat Kumar Pradhan Shrestha represented the institution.
Make burn care treatment available in Nepal
The support comes as a medical equipment grant under the current fiscal year’s approved programme, with Rs 10 million allocated for the purpose. Through a public procurement process, the hospital will purchase one anaesthesia machine, a 250 kVA generator and a 500 mA digital X-ray machine.
KMC said the assistance is intended to help provide accessible and quality healthcare services to city residents and patients visiting the Kirtipur-based facility. Acting Mayor Dangol noted that the grant aims to enhance the hospital’s services, particularly for burn treatment.
Hospital Chairperson Dr Shrestha said the institution operates with a service-oriented mission rather than profit distribution, adding that treatment for burn patients is complex and requires sustained support from the metropolis to make care more accessible.
