Six more arrested in connection with Tinkune pro-monarchy protest

KATHMANDU, April 8: Police have arrested an additional six individuals in connection with the vandalism and arson during the pro-monarchy protest in Tinkune. The arrests were made by a team from the Kathmandu District Police Range, which publicly disclosed the names of the detainees.


The arrested individuals include Amit Shah from Sarlahi, 22;  Suman Karki, 19, from Sunsari, Hemraj Tharu, 34, from Bardiya; Divas Bogati Chettri, 27, from Dhading, Anita Kunwar (Annie), 30, from Kavre and Kumar Tamang, 30, from Sindhupalchok.

They have been charged with criminal misconduct and organized crime and investigations are ongoing with a court order from the Kathmandu District Court.


With this, the total number of arrests related to the pro-monarchy protest has reached 73. Previously, 67 individuals, including senior Vice Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Rabindra Mishra, party General Secretary and Member of Parliament Dhawal Shamser Rana, were also arrested.


An investigation into charges of state crimes against the arrested individuals is currently underway.
