Seven injured as ASCOL students come to blows

KATHMANDU, March 11: As many as seven students have been injured in a clash that erupted among the students associated with the two different students' unions at Amrit Science College (ASCOL) on Wednesday.

Five students from All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) and two students from All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) (ANNISU-R) have been injured.

According to Dipesh Pun who is associated with ANNISU, the clash erupted between the two students unions after his group tried to stop the ANNFSU students from vandalizing the campus chief's office.



The ANNFSU students have also vandalized the office of the campus chief and set his chair on fire. The police have arrested a student involved in the incident.

ANNFSU student Gopal Nepal said they have been demanding the campus chief's resignation over the security slackness and lack of conducive environment for study at the college.

According to him, one student was attacked with a khukuri in the campus premises this morning.

ASCOL Campus Chief Rajesh Mahaju is close to UCPN (Maoist).
