KATHMANDU, July 5: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the Secretary at the Ministry of Land Reforms and Management, and the Director General of the Department of Land Reforms to present themselves before the Court with the information that it had earlier asked for.

A joint bench of Justices Ram Kumar Prasad Shaha and Kalyan Shrestha issued the order on Thursday after the duo failed to respond to the directive of the apex court to submit details of the land above the prescribed ceiling.

The Court had asked for the details in response to a writ filed by Advocate Madhav Basnet some two years back, arguing that the government´s order to bring down the ceiling in land ownership had not been enforced truly.

However, the Ministry and the Department failed to provide the required information to the Court.
