She has recently passed her SLC from Ullens School and is waiting for her International Baccalaureate classes at Ullens School to commence from August.[break]
Megha is currently dividing her time between learning French at Alliance Française, interning at Maiti Nepal, and trying her hand at her new hobby of sketching anime characters, doing tribal art, and also learning the concept of mural designs.
Why did you choose to intern at Maiti Nepal?
I want to take up sociology in the future and my International Baccalaureate course also demands that I have some experience of social work. I believe social work also brings change in people. It was a good experience and I learnt so much at Maiti Nepal. I got to know people there, wrote FIRs, and translated documents.

What do you think sets you apart from your peers?
I’m very confident and I usually don’t waste any time in hesitating, though I do think carefully before I do anything. My confidence probably stems from the fact that as a child my parents were traveling a lot in the United Kingdom due to their jobs and I had to change quite a few schools. So I could never have the same set of friends for long and I just had to make new friends everywhere. I’m also determined and when I set out on a task I make sure that I do it really well. For instance, my Nepali was really poor when I came back to Nepal five years ago. I had private lessons and now it’s so good that I can easily translate letters in Nepali that come to Maiti Nepal.
Do you have any special interests?
I’m interested in various dance forms. When I was eight years old, I learnt ballet for two years and also belly dancing for a year. After I came back to Nepal, I’ve learnt the Kumari dance form as well as Tamang Selo and a few more Newar dance styles. I’ve been thinking of learning Salsa as it’ll also be a good way to keep myself fit. If not then, I’ll probably take up B-Boying lessons in my school. I also enjoy reading, my favorite books being “Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger and “Animal Farm” by George Orwell.
How important is family to you?
I’m the only child but I don’t miss not having siblings because I have a cousin sister with whom I’m really close. My mother is my inspiration and I remember wanting to be a Ph D scholar like her, that is, until I saw the amount of studying one needs to do. From raising me, working, teaching and studying, she managed it all so well and I always count her as my biggest inspiration. My parents and I remain very busy throughout the day, so we try to spend our weekends together and go on short trips.
