KATHMANDU, Oct 2: Prime Minister Sushila Karki did not receive the traditional Tika this Vijaya Dashami, choosing instead to honor the memory of those killed during last month’s Gen-Z protests.

The prime minister had announced earlier that she would forgo the festival ritual this year in tribute to the movement’s martyrs.


Marking the occasion, Karki visited the families of three protesters who lost their lives during the Gen Z demonstrations. According to her secretariat, she met with the relatives of Sauran Kishor Shrestha of Baglung (residing in Kathmandu), Kanchi Nagarkoti of Nagarjun-3 in Kathmandu and Buddhibahadur Tamang of Maitrinagar, Kirtipur.
