PM Bhattarai calls for consensus

KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has called upon all political parties for broader national consensus during his address to the nation live telecast from the National Planning Commission hall in the capital, Thursday evening.



In his brief speech, PM Bhattarai repeatedly said he is prepared to make ´any kind of sacrifice´ and added that his government is even ready to step down at any time for the sake of political consensus. [break]



He said his government could not conduct Constituent Assembly elections called for November 22 as political parties failed to clear legal and constitutional hurdles. He added that his government is committed to hold CA elections.



The PM said the new constitution could not be drafted in time due to a tussle between change seeking and status quotist forces. He however, added that  peace, new constitution, governance and prosperity of the country have remained top priorities of his government.
