KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to launch a National Reawakening Campaign following the conclusion of its second Special General Convention.
The decision was outlined in a contemporary political proposal presented during the closed session of the convention by party General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa.
According to the proposal, the campaign aims to counter politics driven by despair, hatred, and revenge, while restoring hope, trust, and a sense of security among the people. It also seeks to reorient politics toward public interest and social responsibility, revive declining public confidence and national self-respect, and promote democratic values.

“This special general convention of the NC has taken a historic decision to launch a National Reawakening Campaign,” the report states. “Its core objective is to defeat the politics of frustration, hatred, and retaliation, and to ignite hope, confidence, and security in the hearts of the people, while strengthening democratic culture.”
The campaign is expected to help end factionalism and personal interests within the party, strengthen dialogue and cooperation across generations, regions, and communities, and enhance national self-confidence, social unity, and harmony.
General Secretary Thapa noted that leaders, cadres, and members at all levels of the party would be mobilised under the campaign with clear political, social, and cultural responsibilities.
“The campaign will help lift society above hatred, animosity, and revenge, foster a shared national outlook on common issues, strengthen national dignity, and create an environment of intergenerational cooperation and coordination across party structures,” Thapa said in the report. “Standing firmly on the foundation of the Constitution, it will promote progress, freedom, and equality, while instilling a renewed sense of awakening and trust among citizens.”
