Parties close to consensus on full budget: Dahal

KATHAMDNU, July 9: UCPN Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal claimed on Sunday that the political parties have almost reached consensus on bringing full-fledged budget for the fiscal year 2012/13.



“The political parties have almost reached consensus on bringing full-fledged budget,” Dahal said at the meeting with the representatives of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) on Sunday. A team of NCC representatives met Dahal to discuss the current political situation and to urge him to forge political cosensus on bringing full-fledged budget. [break]



The opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML have been protesting the caretaker government´s preparations to bring full-fledged budget.



According to a press statement issued by NCC, Dahal expressed confidence that a full-fledged budget would be promulgated for the upcoming fiscal year. “The political parties will soon reach consensus ,” the statement quotes Dahal as saying.



Addressing the private sector´s concerns, Dahal said the government would also take issues of price hike seriously. According to the release, Suresh Kumar Basnet, president of NCC, said, “Only a full-fledged budget will save the country from an economic crisis.”



“The fiscal budget for 2012/13 should be investment friendly,” Basnet said at the meeting, adding “The fiscal policy should focus on protecting industries and creating job opportunity in the market.”
