Over 10 million voters registered for upcoming elections

KATHMANDU, March 28: As many as 10.7 million voters have been registered for the local level elections scheduled for May 13, according to the Election Commission (EC).

KATHMANDU, March 28: As many as 10.7 million voters have been registered for the local level elections scheduled for May 13, according to the Election Commission (EC). 



Of the total voters, 8,741,530 are female voters, while 8,992,010 are male and 183 identify themselves as ‘others’, Spokesperson Saligram Sharma Poudel said. Speaking at a press meet today, he shared that as many as 10,756 polling stations and 21,955 polling booths have been allocated for the upcoming local level elections.

The EC has also invited organizations to submit their applications for supervision in the upcoming local-level elections. Poudel also clarified that only national bodies would be allowed to supervise the election on the basis of past practices and international practices. Provisions have been made to submit their applications through electronic medium within 15 days if they are interested.  


Furthermore, the government has directed Janak Educational Material Center to prepare the necessary items as well as the machines to print ballot papers for the elections. The EC will also bring a call center into operation from March 29 for election purposes. People can contact the call center by dialing 1102.
