BIRATNAGAR, Sept 25: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said on Tuesday that opposition parties decided to go for protests to oust the prime minister and form a national consensus government under his party’s own leadership.

“We are beginning protests for the post of PM,” Deuba, one of the contenders for the post from his party, said while talking to reporters in Biratnagar airport on his way to Udaypur for a party program. “The PM’s post is NC’s demand as well as right.” [break]

The day PM Baburam Bhattarai resigns, the NC will put forth its candidate, Deuba said. “There is no dispute in the party regarding the name for the post.  When time comes, we will forward the name, immediately.”

Deuba also said he is surprised to see the ruling coalition parties themselves announcing protest program. “Nowhere in the world have I seen the ruling parties launching protest,” he said, adding that the move has further complicated the existing crisis in the country.
