Addressing a function organized to launch a book entitled Kin Bharat Piroldaichha Nepal lai [why is India pestering Nepal], on Saturday, Chairman Baidya said that no one can deny the fact that his party has emerged as the most influential ´third front´ among the contemporary political forces in Nepal. Baidya also lambasted both the opposition and ruling parties and termed them opportunist forces that are focussed on grabbing state power rather than working for welfare of the people. "Nepali Congress and CPN-UML are bent on grabing power by all means and UCPN (Maoist) is something that has no hesitation to go to any extent to remain in power," he said the gathering and
He also rejected the possibility of the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) bringing a solution to the ongoing political impasse and claimed that newly formed CPN-Maoist has the capacity to permanently resolve all major political problems.
Baidya stressed that a roundtable participated by all parties and groups including ethnic and regional forces would be the most effective for ending the impasse. "The roundtable will not only form an interim government but will also complete the unfinished works of constitution writing," he said.
He also ruled out the possibility of reinstating the constituent assembly or holding new elections for the constituent assembly saying there was no certainty the reinstated CA would finish the job.
He accused the leaders of major parties of betraying the people by signing unequal treaties with India. "It is a painful fact that even our former party leader Baburam Bhattarai surrendered to India and inked BIPPA [bilateral investment protection and promotion agreement] by going against the party decision," he added.
