Former Deputy Prime Minister Oli was flown to Harayana-based Medanta Hospital near New Delhi in an air-ambulance on Sunday.[break]

"Doctors here have conducted preliminary tests and have informed us that preliminary reports have shown there is nothing serious to worry, but that they would be able to find the exact reason for the illness only after further observation and tests," Oli´s aide Indra Bhandari told Republica over phone.

"Doctors are planning to conduct some more tests and they will be in the position to tell us the reason for the present ailment once they study the test reports after some 36 hours."

However, according to him, the leader himself was experiencing improvement in his health. "He told us that he was feeling better today [Monday]," said Bhandari. "He also took some soft foods today."

Oli was receiving treatment at Norvic International Hospital in Thapathali before being airlifted to New Delhi on Sunday.

On Friday, the influential UML leader was admitted to the Norvic Hospital after he complained of chest infection.

Oli fell ill during his recent visit to the US and was admitted to a New York-based hospital. He arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

The UML leader had undergone kidney transplant a few years ago and has been regularly visiting Apollo Hospital in New Delhi for medication.
