According to NPC official, the revised ceiling covers needful resources required for reconstruction infrastructures damaged by the earthquake.
The Resources Committee of NPC, led by NPC Vice Chairman Govind Raj Pokhrel, decided to revise the budget ceiling. NPC had put the ceiling at Rs 735 billion before the earthquake of April 25.
NPC Member Chandra Mani Adhikari said that the ceiling was set considering the resources, spending capacity and projected economic growth.NPC will now set budget ceiling for ministries and other agencies. They will have to set program for the new fiscal year accordingly.
The apex policy making body of the government has already agreed in principle to cut regular spending. It has also said it won't allocate any fund for new projects and that major chunk of resources will be used for reconstruction works in quake-hit districts.
PDNA REPORT TO BE UNVEILED ON JUNE 13
NPC officially said the Post Disaster Need Assessment (PDNA) Report will be unveiled on June 13.
Earlier, NPC had said that it would unveil the report on June 10.
NPC Member Govinda Nepal said they would make the draft report public on June 13.
According to NPC officials, PDNA report will provide a basis for the government to seek funds from donors for reconstruction.
The PDNA report will be tabled in international donors' conference for reconstruction to be held on June 25.
All the donors have already been invited for the program, according to the officials of Ministry of Finance.
