Former national champion Saroj Maharjan and coach Devendra Karmacharya had tampered with the signature of NJA's general secretary and unlawfully used the official email address of NJA to visit Spain in January to attend a seminar, according to NJA President Deepak Harsha Bajracharya.
On Thursday, NJA issued a press statement announcing the duo's suspension from all judo activities for ten years.
The disgraced players had flown to Malaga to attend the IJF Referee and Coaching Seminar held in the Spanish city from January 29 to February 1 without the consent of NJA.
NJA General Secretary Ramesh Maharjan confirmed to Republica that the two have not yet returned from Spain.
According to a knowledgeable source, the judokas have joined the French Foreign Legion.
“If you enter any state of the European Union, it won't be much of a problem to go to another state,” said the source on condition of anonymity.
Foreignlegion.info states on its website that one only has to reach mainland France and knock on the door of one of the Foreign Legion recruiting centers to get enlisted in the service.
“Once you are in, free accommodation, food and clothing are immediately provided by the Legion,” writes the website.
Joining the French Foreign Legion seems to be relatively easy for professional athletes because of their physical fitness. There is no restriction for people of any nationality and there is also no discrimination of one's race to join them.
