NJA awards medalist judokas

KATHMANDU, April 5: Nepal Judo Association (NJA) awarded medalist judokas of the 11th South Asian Games on Monday.







Four judokas had won bronze medals for the country in the regional games held in Dhaka. The four bronze medalists are Deep Krishna Shrestha, Rajan Joshi, Debu Thapa and Radha Devi Rai. They each got Rs 7,000 from the association. [break]



Judo coaches Masahiro Maeda, Surya Narayan Shrestha and Dal Bahadur Gurung got Rs 3,000 each.



Likewise, Ramesh Magar and Kaluman Tamang, who were injured in a lift mishap in a hotel in Dhaka on the opening day of the SAG, were handed Rs 5,000 each and black belts.



Meanwhile, NJA awarded Rs 1,000 each to the bronze medalists of the Rajiv Gandhi Judo Championship held in India.



Devendra Karmacharya, Raj Bahadur Chand, Shreeram Makaju, Allen Maharjan, Ranju Rai, Phupulhamu Khatri Chhetri, Indira Rai and Sunita Bohara had won bronze medals in the tournament.
