KATHMANDU, Jan 22: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has shown concerns over the Rangeli incident in which three people died in the police firing yesterday.

According to a preliminary report of the NHRC, three people – Dropadi Devi Chaudhary, 60, of Rangeli-4, Mahadev Rishidev of Bardanga-2 and Shibu Majhi – died in the police firing.

The human rights body has urged the government to bring the guilty under justice after investigation and provide due compensation to the victims' families.

Urging the concerned parties to resolve the existing stalemate through dialogues, NHRC in the statement said "It is a serious violation of established international human rights and citizens' right to assemble peacefully and hold rally and right to life."

Three people had died in the police firing after Madhesi cadres attacked a mass meeting organized by the Youth Association of Nepal at Rangeli in Morang district yesterday.
