NEPSE inches up 6.54 points; daily turnover increases to Rs 7.24 billion

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday increased marginally by 6.54 points to close at 2,683.86 points.

KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday increased marginally by 6.54 points to close at 2,683.86 points.


The secondary market, which opened at 2,677.32 points, first increased by 12 points followed by a drop of 14 points, in the first 40 minutes. In the next one hour, the market rose to the day’s high at 2,691.92 points. However, the market could not retain its charm for the investors, while the index plunged to the day’s low at 2,673.13 points with the last seven minutes remaining. The market recovered around 10 points before it closed for the day.


Five groups were listed as gainers, with development bank index surging the largest of 134.08 points. Of the nine losers, non-life insurance shed the highest of 56.47 points.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 0.50 points. Daily turnover increased to Rs 7.24 billion from Rs 6.96 billion on Monday.


Among individual companies, 134 were gainers while 98 were registered as losers. CEDB Holdings Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 368.18 million.


Three companies including Sikles Hydropower Limited, Bhagawati Hydropower Development Company Limited and Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company Limited gained the largest of 10 percent of their market values. Bhugol Energy Development Company was recorded as the topmost loser.
