Investigation file on Bal Mandir case returned to CIB

The District Government Attorney's Office in Kathmandu returned the investigation file on the Nepal Bal Mandir land lease case in Naxal to the police. It sent the file back to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police with a four-point directive for further investigation.

KATHMANDU, March 16: The District Government Attorney's Office in Kathmandu returned the investigation file on the Nepal Bal Mandir land lease case in Naxal to the police. It sent the file back to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police with a four-point directive for further investigation.


A senior CIB official said, “They returned the file for further investigation.”

The District Government Attorney's Office instructed investigators to examine the lease period of the land, determine whether lessees can take loans against leased property, and review property tax issues.


In mid-April 2023, CIB began investigating the leasing of Bal Mandir's land and issued arrest warrants for 20 individuals.


The District Government Attorney's Office released some detainees, including former General Secretary of the Bal Mandir Organization Ganesh Bhakta Shrestha and Vice President Tulsi Narayan Shrestha, on bail two days after recording their statements.


The authorities leased Bal Mandir's land for commercial purposes at a low rental rate.
