Winning the toss and inviting China to bat first, Nepal restricted the host to 92/2 in 20 overs. In reply, the entire Nepali innings crumbled for 47 runs in 19 overs. With both the teams losing their two earlier matches, today’s encounter was only of academic interest. [break]
For China, Zhang Mei top scored with 44. She faced 60 balls and hit four boundaries. Other major contributors were Huang Zhuo (22) and Sun Huan (11). Nepali bowlers Rubina Chhetri and Neera Rajopadhyay took one wicket each.
Chasing the total, no Nepali batswoman could score in double figures except Sita Rana Magar who made 10. Sonu Khadka (6), with one four, was the only Nepali player to hit any boundary in Nepali innings.
Chinese bowlers Zhou Haijie and Han Lili claimed two wickets each, while Wu Juan took one. Five Nepali players, including four top order batswomen, were run out.
Earlier Nepal had suffered a 20-run defeat against Sri Lanka and lost to Bangladesh by nine runs. Nepal had encountered China twice in the past, emerging victorious on both the occasions.
