NC leader Deuba leaves for India visit

KATHMANDU, June 9: Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday opined that his party should give up its stance on eligibility threshold as other parties are trying to defame the NC on the issue.



Talking to journalists at Tribuvan International Airport before leaving for New Delhi for his 6-day India visit at the official invitation of the Indian government this morning, leader Deuba said, “Now NC should work for declaring the new poll date putting aside the its stance on the threshold as other parties are trying to tarnish party’s image.” [break]

 

Earlier on Saturdy morning, Deuba suggested to Koirala that NC should be ready to give up its stance on eligibility threshold to help the government announce poll date during his meeting with Koirala. .



Deuba, who is accompanied by his spouse Arzu Rana Deuba and party leader Bimalendra Nidhi, is scheduled to hold meetings with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and national security advisor Shiv Shankar Menon, among other senior Indian officials, during his six-day stay in India.
