Shrestha, who until now believed that NA soldiers only engaged in wars, went home with completely different impression about the army personnel. It was the first time that he saw NA personnel helping people in difficulty.
"I am moved to see the NA team extend support to quake-hit people in the time of disaster," he said. The relief materials distributed by the NA team were gathered by the Nepalese Army Wives Association.
Since the disaster first struck, along with the staff of Armed Police Force and Nepal Police, NA men have been at the forefront of rescue and relief distribution as well as building shelters for the locals.
"The NA team also helped retrieve valuables and belongings from damaged houses braving all the risks," said Shrestha.
The NA team provided relief materials and helped build shelters at Jhangajholi VDC, a remote village in the district. As per the NA team, they distributed relief materials among 400 quake-hit families.
With monsoon approaching nearer, the NA is now turning its focus on building shelters for earthquake victims, according to Manoj Thapa, chief of Chandi Dal Battalion.
"So far we have built shelters for quake-affected locals in Bhuwaneshwari, Bhimeshwor, Shitalpati and Jhangajholi VDCs," he said.
The NA team has demolished 360 damaged houses and rebuilt over 102 temporary shelters in the northern part of the district, according Thapa.
"We are very pleased to see NA soldiers provide relief. Their support has healed our pain," said Bhakta Bahadur Shrestha, a local.
According to the locals, they were earlier afraid of the NA and they never dared to talk to them.
However, the involvement of the NA in rescue, relief and rehabilitation works after the earthquake has served to bridge the gap that existed between them and people.
