KATHMANDU, Dec 25: The Election Commission (EC) held a ‘class’ for political parties on how to submit closed lists for the proportional representation system in the House of Representatives election.
The EC called two representatives from each party and conducted the class over two days. Representatives from 93 parties participated in the orientation.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari urged the parties to submit error-free closed lists ensuring representation of all castes, languages, classes, and geographical regions.

The dates for submitting the closed list of candidates under the proportional system have been set for December 28 and 29.
At the conclusion of Wednesday’s orientation, Bhandari said all necessary preparations have been completed, making debates over whether the elections will happen or not meaningless.
“The EC is determined to hold the elections at any cost. We have no choice but to conduct them. If elections do not happen, uncertainty arises. Therefore, holding the election is inevitable,” Bhandari said, “I urge all parties to select good candidates and fulfill their responsibility to establish good governance in the country.”
He also emphasized that parties should be able to campaign freely. “No one should block or hinder the election process,” he said.
