Ministry fixes minimum charges for Portugal

KATHMANDU, Nov. 10: The Ministry of Labour has fixed the minimum amount for job in Portugal paid by the immigrant workers to the manpower companies for processing and documentation.



Labraj Joshi, a section officer at the Department of Foreign Employment, said that the manpower agencies now can take minimum Rs 65,000 from each aspirant to send him or her to European country Portugal. Joshi said that so far no worker has left for Portugal institutionally.



The department said that door to send the workers institutionally has opened after the government decision.



A total of 27 workers have gone Portugal by taking labour permit individually while five have renewed their labour document since April 2011.
