A special team from the police apprehended Yadav at Wakil Tole in Janakpur at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday. It has taken years for police to make the arrest after begining their investigations into Singhaniya's muder.Along with Yadav, police took 15 persons into custody, including Yadav's wife Kalyani Devi, their landlord Shreechanda Ray, and other tenants.
Dhanusha District Court on Wednesday remanded three of the arrested -- Chandradeep, Kalyani and Shreechanda -- to two days in custody for further investigations, court registrar Nandakishor Yadav informed.
A single bench of Judge Rajendra Kumar Acharya had ordered the remand of Chandradeep and his wife for investigation into Singhaniya's murder and of Ray for investigations into his involvement in various criminal activities including trafficking in drugs, arms and ammunition.
Superintendent of Police Ramdutta Joshi, who is chief of District Police Office (DPO) Dhanusha, informed that findings of the preliminary investigations will be made public on Thursday.
Chandradeep, one of those remanded, has also been charged with the murder of Rajendra Prasad Yadav and for his involvement in shooting at Nasim Rain and Ramsogarath during the recent Nepali Congress general convention in the district.
Police sources claim that Chandradeep is one of the masterminds in the murder of Singhaniya, chairman of Janakpur Today Communications Group. He was shot dead at Shiva Chowk in Janakpur on March 1, 2010.
"Investigations into the Singhaniya murder that has remained a mystery for nearly seven years, are now expected to conclude," a senior police officer at the DPO told Republica.
Earlier also, police had also arrested three persons in connection with the murder.
