KATHMANDU, Dec 27: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has stated that all political forces in the country should come together to safeguard national interests, regardless of their ideologies.

During a meeting with the delegation of Nagarik Bachau Party on Friday, the PM said that 114 political parties have applied to take part in the upcoming elections, and all should remain united for the cause of the national interests.

"Diversity in ideology and getting a chance to advocate one's ideology is the beauty of democracy. But having stated this, all forces in the country should come together for our national interests," according to the PM.

The PM was of the view that all parties should now share common viewpoints on elections, adding that we should move forward in a balanced manner in this adverse situation.

Election is an opportunity to take one's ideology to the people and get elected, the PM said while urging to make the March 5 election a success.

On the occasion, PM Karki shared that the government was making full preparations for the polls and urged not to harbour any doubts on the successful completion of the poll.

She also mentioned that the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal and Nepal Police have been provided with all means and resources for the poll, and a separate force for the elections is being recruited.

"The elections slated for March 5 will not be postponed at any cost. You too get prepared (for polls)," PM Karki added.

She reiterated that she was firm on holding the elections since the government was formed with an assignment to conduct the poll.

This government is given the responsibility to hold the election on March 5, and it has no excuse for moving left and right, the PM clarified.

She said she was surprised by the trend of nonconformity despite the nation having witnessed such a huge loss.

The PM also urged the existing mainstream political parties to engage in self-assessment on different issues.

Though there was a conflict between the established and new ideologies in the country at present, the PM said this 'family affair' should be resolved in a friendly manner. But, old mentality, old-fashioned and the same old interpretation is no more working now, she urged for the correction and reforms.

On the occasion, Chairman of Nagarik Bachau Party Nepal Madhav Kalpit submitted a five-point demand to Prime Minister Karki on behalf of the party.
