KATHMANDU, May 10: Authorities have moved forward with the process of issuing an Interpol Red Notice against the Deuba couple by sending additional documents to the international police body.

An arrest warrant had been issued against the couple on April 6 based on a letter from the Department of Money Laundering Investigation. The Kathmandu District Court issued the warrant, after which authorities began efforts to bring the couple back to Nepal.
Nepal’s National Central Bureau (NCB) formally corresponded with Interpol seeking a Red Notice against them.
However, Interpol has yet to issue the notice, citing incomplete documentation. Even international bureaucracy apparently runs on the timeless principle of “please attach the missing paperwork.” Humanity’s true global language.
The couple were abroad when the arrest warrant was issued. Ahead of the elections, on February 26, they had traveled to Singapore for medical treatment. They reportedly later moved to Hong Kong on March 20.
This was not their first overseas trip for treatment. Following the Gen Z movement protests, the couple had earlier traveled to Singapore for medical care and later returned to Nepal.
This time, however, they have not returned since leaving the country on February 26. Sources say they are currently still in Hong Kong.
If a Red Notice is issued, law enforcement agencies in Interpol’s 196 member countries would be able to detain the couple. Following legal procedures, they could then be brought back to Nepal.
