The Maoists cadres numbering about a dozen had indiscriminately beaten up Ghimire accusing him of defying their strike.
Ghimire has sustained serious injuries to his left eye while his nose is completely fractured.
He is currently undergoing treatment at TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.
According to Rajendra Dahal, editor of the Shikchak Monthly, the Maoist cadres attacked Ghimire though he had a valid press card.
