Maoist district secretary Asarfi Bhinwar Yadav attacked LDO Surya Kanta Jha following a dispute over the minute. Yadav, who was a Maoist representative in the board, had wished to see the minute after knowing that Jha had made corrections to some of the points of the board decisions and made some changes to the expenditure.[break]
Yadav lost his cool after Jha told that the Maoist representative to the board had been changed and hit Jha with his sandal.
The irate LDO then called the police and directed them to throw all the board representatives out of the meeting hall leading to a scuffle between the board members and police. The board representatives of 17 political parties had earlier boycotted the meeting following the dispute with LDO.
Dhanusha Chairman of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (Democratic) Uma Shankar Adgariya said the meeting won´t be convened until the LDO makes a public apology. Adgariya accused LDO Jha of embezzling development funds. "We execute all the big projects through contractors and smaller ones are implemented through consumer groups," Adgariya said. "The DDC releases money in installments only after the locals resume work with the 30% contribution they have to make. But Jha has promoted corruption by releasing advance payments at the start of work," he claimed.
