Madhu Sudan Acharya elected NATTA President

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Madhu Sudan Acharya has been elected as the president of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA).

According to NATTA, he received 191 votes out of total 432 votes cast during the 52nd Annual General Meeting of NATTA held on Sunday. His opponents Mihika Dhakwa and Shambhu Raj Pathak received 164 and 57 votes, respectively.


All candidates fielded by Acharya won the election.

"There is a division among NATTA members at present. So our first priority will be to unite all the members. We will be working together for the betterment of the tourism industry," Acharya said, adding that his team will give continuity to programs and activities initiated by the current team, like focusing Chinese market. "We will also lobby with the concerned government agencies on agendas raised by the current team."

C N Pandey, DK Sharma, Bhim Prasad Pant, Sudhir Upadhyaya, Chitra Gurung and Sabita KC Bhattarai are the 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, General Secretary, Secretary, Treasurer and Joint Treasurer, respectively, in the new executive committee. Similarly, Yubaraj Subedi, Laxman Lamsal, Ram Kumar Barakoti, Ghanashyam Ghimire, Binaya Basnet, Hari Bhakta Shrestha, Barun Mehta and Shital Kumari Sharma Poudel have been elected as executive members.
