JANAKPURDHAM, June 16: Madhesh Province government is going to bring its budget for the next financial year 2023/24 today.
Finance Minister Sanjay Kumar Yadav is scheduled to present the budget in the provincial assembly meeting at 5 PM.
Will the budget be a sharp departure from the previous ones?
The provincial government plans to bring a budget of over Rs 35 billion, prioritizing agriculture, irrigation, education, health, physical infrastructure etc.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Prem Prasad Bhattarai, said that they are going to bring a total budget of Rs 35 billion - Rs 20 billion from the provincial government and Rs 15 billion from the federal government.
Last year, the Madhesh Province government brought a budget of Rs 46 billion for the current fiscal year 2022/23.
But this year, Secretary Bhattarai says that the size of the budget has decreased, since the federal government has reduced the budget by 22 percent for the next fiscal year.
