KOICA donates 'clean autorickshaws' to LDT

KATHMANDU, Feb 29: With an aim to create local employment and improve transport system in Lumbini area, The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has donated more than 70 'clean autorickshaws' to Lumbini Development Trust (LDT). The Rickshaw Association of Lumbini has nominated 125 drivers for a period of two weeks to smoothly operate the rickshaws.

KOICA procured 70 'clean autorickshaws in line with the project proposal and specification for clean autorickshaws requested by LDT and on the basis of an agreement signed between KOICA and LTD on July 25, 2014, a press statement issued by KOICA, said.


The rickshaws were donated amid a function organized on LDT premises on 25 February. Speaking at the function, Minister of State for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bal Bahadur Mahat said he is committed to extending all necessary support to make sure that the project is fully implemented.

Likewise, Country Director of KOICA Nepal Hyungkyoo Kim remarked that joint efforts of both Nepal and Korean government can benefit communities and bring positive change in the project area.
