The ‘silence’ of May 7, 2002 in Gaam lingers on


More than a decade later, Deu Singh Gharti, alias Stone narrates the horrific night in Gaam where more than hundred of security personnel and dozens of Maoist insurgents were killed in Rolpa. Gharti was nicknamed Stone after he survived the hours long fight and witnessed the events hidden between the rocks. 



When rooftops, leaves and cars drenched in murky rain ...!


“The rooftop is full of murky water that got collected after rain. It used to normally be clean when it rained earlier. But this time….!” complained Mira Shrestha, a local of Tribeni Tole in Suryabinayak Municipality-5, Bhaktapur on early Saturday. When I and my child went out of the house, we found leaves of pumpkin, cucumber, beans and grass full of whitish dried dust particles fallen from the sky along with rain last night.  


Eid al-fitr celebrated across the country


Muslims from Nepal celebrated Eid al-fitr across the country. The festival marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Eid is the first and only day in the month of Shawwal during which Muslims are not permitted to fast. On the occasion, the country’s President and the Prime Minister extended best wishes to all Nepali Muslims at home and abroad for their happiness, peace and good health.

Aguero in, Higuain out as Argentina gears against Iceland

Trump sets tariffs on $50 billion in Chinese goods; Beijing strikes back


U.S. President Donald Trump pushed tariffs on $50 billion of Chinese imports. The tariff lists more than 800 strategically important imports from China that would be subject to a 25 percent tariff starting on July 6. Meanwhile, China fired back Saturday in a spiraling trade dispute with President Donald Trump by raising import duties on a $34 billion list of American goods including soybeans, electric cars and whiskey.


Saudi-led forces seize airport in Yemen port city of Hodeida


Saudi-led forces heading an assault on Yemen's rebel-held port city of Hodeida seized control of its international airport as fierce fighting continued for the starving nation's main gateway for food shipments. The Saudi-led coalition began its assault Wednesday on Hodeida, the main entry for food into a country already on the brink of famine.
