Govt approves National Strategy on Foreign Invasive Species

The National Foreign Invasive Species Management Strategy and Implementation Plan 2081, prepared by the Forest Research and Training Centre, which has been in the process of approval for the last 15 years, has been approved by a ministerial-level decision today.

KATHMANDU, March 30: Minister for Forests and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri has approved the National Foreign Invasive Species Management Strategy and Implementation Plan.



The National Foreign Invasive Species Management Strategy and Implementation Plan 2081, prepared by the Forest Research and Training Centre, which has been in the process of approval for the last 15 years, has been approved by a ministerial-level decision today.

Centre Director General, Dr Rajendra KC, said that the strategic plan prepared by incorporating the opinions of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and other stakeholders has been approved after almost 15 years.


Director General KC said that this strategy will assist in controlling the spread of invasive species.
