Gold dealers of the Kathmandu Valley had shut their jewelry shops on Sunday to protest murder of Harka Bahadur Diyali, the owner of Kapan-based Mata Manakana Jewelry Shop. Diyali was shot dead on Friday evening.
Police have arrested Shankar Ghising of Makawanpur and Prem Sunar of Okhaldhunga in connection with the incident.
Officials of Negosida have demanded that the government ensure security for them to continue their business in a peaceful environment. They also requested the government to provide compensation to next of kin of the deceased.
Manik Ratna Shakya, secretary general of Negosida, told Republica that the government has assured them of security and compensation for the next of kin of the deceased.
“PM Bhattarai has directed the home ministry to improve security system in the valley,” added Shakya.
