“These problems have deteriorated the business environment and may lead to extinction of entrepreneurs from the country,” they said at the ninth executive committee meeting of FNCCI held on Sunday in Pokhara.[break]
At the meeting, FNCCI President Suraj Vaidya called on the government to immediately stop raids on business enterprises. “These raids will only push more businesses toward closure,” Vaidya told the media on Monday. “We request the government to include a member from the business community while launching such operations.”
The participants at the meeting also condemned the government decision to fix maximum retail price of certain commodities. “This will not control price in the market but lead to their shortage,” they said. “The practice goes against the spirit of liberal economic policy.”
During the meeting, entrepreneurs also expressed dissatisfaction over the government´s inability to resolve power crisis faced by the country. They were, however, unanimous on the need to gradually adopt alternative energy sources and use of energy efficient electrical machineries and appliances.
The meeting also called upon local chamber of commerce and industry to make contribution in development of local power projects and transmission lines.
