In Lalbojhi VDC of Kailali district, about 300 houses have been inundated following the incessant rain over the last couple of days. Around 200 families have fled their houses, which are partially submerged in water. [break]
According to Superintendent of Police Ghanshyam Aryal, who is the chief of District Police Office of Kailali, although the rain abated and the level of flood subsided on Monday, houses in ward number 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 in Lalbojhi VDC are deluged with water.
“Some families returned to their houses today [Monday],” said Aryal. “But most of the displaced families are taking shelter in safer places away from home.”
A man who was swept away by the flood in Kailali was still untraced till Monday.
Amrit Moktan,45, a resident of Dhangadhi Municipality ward no. 2, had gone missing while collecting firewood brough by the flood on Sunday.
In Bajura, nearly 150 houses are under the risk of landslide following the incessant rain. At least 75 families living in Dogadi VDC of Bajura have moved to safer places to avoid the risk of landslide, which appears imminent in the face of the incessant rainfall. “They no longer live in their houses,” said

In Sarlahi, according to Republica correspondent Jitendra Kumar Jha, more than 18 houses in Tilathi VDC of the district are submerged for the last four days. With the full-spate monsoon rains showing no sign of abating, the flood victims say they are anticipating even worse scenario.
“Hundreds of families will be displaced if the heavy rains continue for a few more days,” says Mahi Narayan Mishra, a resident of Tilathi VDC-3.
At a time when almost everything is under water, managing basic necessities has become a major concern for the flood-affected.
“We can´t cook food in our houses,” says Bhogendra Mishra, of the same village. “I wonder how long we will have to suffer like this.”
Meanwhile, the Tilathi-Kunauli section of the Rajbiraj-Kunauli road is under water leading to obstruction of vehicular movement. “No vehicle is able to cross the Tilathi-Kunauli road,” says Satish Jha, a tempo driver. “The road is completely under water.”
In Tanahun, a woman has gone missing after being swept away by a river. The woman has been identified as the wife of Dhan Bahadur Ale, of Byas Municipality-1. She was swept away while collecting firewood at the confluence of Chhabdi Khola and Seti River.
