Five-point pact forged to end deadlock after Rangeli incident

BIRATNAGAR, Jan 24: An all-party meeting held here in the district on Sunday has forged a five-point agreement toto end deadlock after Rangeli incident.



As per the decision, the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF)  has agreed to receive the bodies of the deceased who died on police firing on Thursday.

According to Pramod Kharel, Spokesperson at District Police Office at Morang, the meeting has also decided to write to Ministry of Home Affairs for providing compensation, declaring the deceased as martyrs, free treatment of the injured and informing the MoHA about the demands put forth by  the UDMF.

As per the decision, the   bodies  will be handed over to their respected families in the presence of all-party member today itself.


Likewise, all sides will facilitate to those who displaced from the Rangeli to return to their homes.


According to SP Tarani Prasad Lamsal, the     relatives of the deceased will get Rs 25,000 for the time being and Local administration will provide the amount.


Three persons were killed in police firing after agitating Madhesi demonstrators tried to disrupt programs organized by Youth Force (YF), the youth wing of CPN-UML, in Morang district on Thursday.  Over 15 others were injured in the incident.

Draupadi Devi Chaudhary, 58, of Rangeli and Shibu Majhi, 20, of Dayniya, breathed their last on the spot while Mahadev Rishidev, 28, of Bardanga, succumbed to bullet injuries while undergoing treatment at Biratnagar-based Golden Hospital.
